There are a lot of dockets out there. Halcyon catalogs hundreds of new ones every week. All are important, but some are more important than others. And right now, Halcyon has been examining one of the hottest dockets around:
Hi there — Bruce Falck, Halcyon CEO, checking in while Nat is enjoying some well-deserved time off this week.
I am far less eloquent than my co-founder, but I hope you all will appreciate my brevity: over the course of Q1, every customer, prospect, Halcyon Alerts subscriber, and other energy-industry professional I've chatted with has shared some version of the same thing: "What you're building is great, but I really need coverage for all 50 states."
So, for Q2, Halcyon's top priority is to extend our energy information market coverage to include all 50 states. We're off to a pretty good start:
- In the last week, we’ve expanded Halcyon Alerts coverage (reminder: they are free, you can sign-up here) from 17 states to 24 states.
- NEW!: North Carolina Utilities Commission, Maryland Public Service Commission, Louisiana Public Service Commission, South Carolina Public Service Commission, Missouri Public Service Commission, Oklahoma Corporation Commission, and New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission.*
- Current list: Arizona, Colorado, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire*, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
- *Temporarily out of commission: New Hampshire. NHPUC is updating its website, which means we have to update our crawlers. This won't take long and we'll send an update via Nat's weekly Alerts roundup (subscribe to Alerts to get these!) when it's fixed.
- We also recently launched the ability to track a specific docket via Follow-a-docket. This is for those of you who know exactly what you want to follow and only want an email when there’s something new with that specific docket.
- There are three ways you can follow a docket!
- Via the Halcyon Alerts emails, as shown above.
- Via Docket search (helpful if you know exactly what docket number you’re after).
- Via Docket profiles (helpful if you want to get up to speed on what’s happening with a docket).
- All three of these will require you to authenticate before you can access — this is free and helps us keep our systems secure.
- We’ve also heard some feedback regarding Topics - some of them work well, and others don’t work so well. We currently use a combination of machines and humans to infer these Topics; we're consistently refining our approach to improve alerts quality. If you notice poor quality — eg there are documents or dockets that seemingly have nothing to do with the topic you’ve chosen — please send/forward those emails to support@halcyon.eco
Finally, for those of you based in San Francisco or traveling to San Francisco later this month for SF Climate Week: we are hosting an informal lunch-and-learn with Nat Bullard at Halcyon HQ on Thursday April 24th from 12:00-1:30pm PT. Space is limited, but if you or a colleague are in town, we'd love to see you.
